  If it will, then surely we would have seen a time traveler already…. To be honest its hard to know, some theories don’t rule it out in theory, but I have a feeling that its impossible. I would love to be proved wrong.

  I don’t know. There’s a good argument to say that if the time machine is ever invented, it will only be able to go forwards in time – because otherwise we would already know about it because tourists from the future would have visited us!

  The physics say that you can never travel back in time, but due to weirdness in special relativity (something Einstein worked out), it says that the faster you travel the slower time actually moves forward, relative to other people who aren’t moving as fast… so I suppose if you could somehow find a way to travel near to the speed of light (very very fast) then you could slow time down so that when you stopped, technically everything else will have moved faster in time and so be the future – but the big experiment in switzerland called the large hadron collider has to use a HUGE amount of energry to speed up just single atoms to NEAR the speed of light, so I think it very unlikely that we’d ever be able to design a craft to help US with that. The other options are to travel close to very very massive objects, like a massive star or near a black hole where time slows down… or freeze yourself and hope in the future they can bring you back to life… that would kind of be like time travel I guess.

  I like the idea of a time machine – it would be amazing, but would probably create chaos! but I don’t think its possible
