I’m part of a science communication group at the uni and we… well, we communicate science! I’d donate the money to them and that can go towards putting on events where I’ll be able to talk to people about my science or get THE experts to talk about related stuff – also go in to schools and showing the kids how to get DNA out of strawberries is an idea that I’d like to try!

The money would allow us to make an audio guide for our zoology museum, which visitors can download onto their mp3 players from the net and listen to while they either walk around the museum in real life or do an online tour. It’ll have sound effects and animal noises and mini-interviews with experts. We get a lot of school visits to the museum so it would be great to bring the exhibits alive like that!

I’ll give it to some sixth form students to help pay for their travel when they visit my lab to work for the summer

I haven’t made specific plans, but I would like to give talks to schools like yours about how science has changed our lives and how it may change it in the future. I would also like to show how science is no longer about being good at one subject, for example I use both maths and biology together to answer important questions about life.

use it to pay for reagents used by students to do experiments or pay some costs for students to get experience in our lab. I am wondering if there is a way to use it to publish a small newsletter on what our department does,I haven’t thought too seriously about it though!
