      1. getting to learn new things ALL the time, especially when it’s you that’s found it.
      2. free coffee every day. Fab.
      3. the flexibility – it’s not as rigid and boring as working in an office.

      Solving a problem and so making the experiment work
      Getting exciting results from an experiment
      Going to a conference in a lovely place like Florida with all my friends

      You never get bored because there’s something new to think about every day.
      You get to work independently so there’s a lot of flexibility (and no dress code! I hate wearing a suit)
      You’re doing something worthwhile, because you’re helping people understand the world.

      Nobody checks that you are at work!

      Nobody cares what you are up to as long as you get results.

      You get to spend your time learning about how life works.

      not necessarily in this order…1) discovering new things 2) always learning and 3) the comradie that develops in a research group as some of my best experiences of science have been the people I work with
