I have maybe a few annoying little niggly things with the department I work in – namely just how there’s never enough 2L flasks in the glass washing facility – they don’t stock/clean enough plus everyone always seems to get there before me 🙁 Ah well, these things can be overcome. But otherwise, I love my department!

No, not really. I have all the resources I need to do the necessary experiments. There are also lots of people around me who really know what they are doing and are happy to help and explain things to me.

… I just don’t have enough time – either in the working day or in my contract (just more than a year now to do everything I want to do)

At the moment some people are losing their jobs in my department, which makes it less good to work at right now. But that is because of the recession, not the place. I do wish i lived nearer work though.

      I can’t tell you or they’ll sack me 😉

Its a very competitive place, and previous acheivements get forgotten very quickly. They are always changing the rules and you get judged for things you didnt realise were important
