“Dr Tatiana’s Sex Advice to All Creation” by Olivia Judson and “Mother Nature” by Sara Blaffer Hrdy are really interesting books about the science, and particularly the evolution, of sex and reproduction. Hrdy’s book is mostly about apes and monkeys but Judson’s covers all living things.

Do you mean if I were a teacher? There are plenty of good tv programs and books on sex education so I’d use those with class discussions, and in terms of the reproduction systems, well best to go with the facts and so forth, plenty of science books about that. I would offer open and factual advice.

I think for anything i would say read as much as you can (from textbooks) about what we know about the biology of the human body and reproduction – and don’t be shy to ask your bio teacher. Something I found really cool was looking at the different strategies that animals and plants have of reproducing. for example, some organisms (some reptiles, insects and invertebrates) don’t need to have their eggs fertilized to reproduce.
