      The top three in my opinion are

      1. Persistence. Things often don’t work the first time and you have to be prepared to try again and again. (I have too much of this one! I’m Little Miss Beats-her-head-against-a-brick-wall!)
      2. You have to be fairly self-motivated, because nobody will breathe down your neck to make sure you are working.
      3. Creative thinking. You have to be able to see connections between your work and other people’s, and think up new ways to test ideas.
